Bio
Theresa Harris’ early view on art, landscape, and culture was shaped while living in several States across the US. The central coast of California holds her earliest memories, and it is where her family lineage can be traced back to the 1920s. Drawing, painting, sewing, and portraiture were skills practiced, and encouraged in several generations of her family. The majority of her years growing up were spent in coastal Georgia. The diverse ecology and natural beauty of the marshes and beaches helped her recognize the importance of preserving our natural spaces.
She attended The Savannah College of Art and Design, as well as The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree specializing in Fashion Design. Two years of her education included an abroad program in Florence, Italy at Polimoda. While in Europe she immersed herself in art, fashion, and architecture by traveling to Spain, France, Germany, Austria, and throughout Italy. Prior to returning to the United States in 1996, she worked with fashion designer John Rocha in Dublin, Ireland. Upon graduating from college her first job designing apparel was in Santa Barbara, California with Deckers Outdoor Corporation, and then at Patagonia. Theresa continued working in the apparel industry consulting, while taking painting workshops in her free time. Her decision to pursue her love of art full time has been very rewarding, and always presents a new challenge.
Theresa and her husband currently reside in the greater Atlanta area, and are avid outdoor enthusiasts. She expresses her observations of the world into impressionistic representational art.
